Somnath: The land of the Sacred Temple

Somnath is one of the most celebrated temples in India. Also known as Deo Patan, the temple is supposed to be the first among the twelve Jyothirlinga shrines. The temple is devoted to Lord Shiva and is visited by devotees all over India. The temple is situated on the western coast of the Indian state of Gujarat.

  2. The Fern Residency: The uniqueness lies of the Fern Residency lies in the terrace and the amazing view it offers. The hotel is nearly 2.5 kilometres away from the temple. The staff is very responsive and the rooms are spacious and well-kept.


If you are travelling by air, Diu Airport is closest at 63 kilometres from the area. It has services to major cities in the country. The closest international airport is in Ahmedabad.

Veraval is the closest railway station to Somnath. The station is well connected to Ahmedabad, Jabalpur and Pune.

How can I go to Somnath temple?


The best time to visit here and its beauties are from the onset of winter to the onset of summer. The months from October-March are considered ideal because of the pleasant weather and the occurrence of many festivals. The summers tend to be very hot and can be exhaustive for visitors.
