Ahmedabad, also known as Karnavati, is one of the most famous cities in the state of Gujarat. The city, apart from being a major industrial and economic hub, is one of the biggest tourist hotspots in India. The city has a rich cultural history and was inhabited for over a thousand years. 


  • Sabarmati Ashram: Sabarmati Ashram is a historically significant place, for being the residence of Mahatma Gandhi. This is the place where the father of the nation began his world-renowned Dandi March. The place has an art gallery and library with over thirty-five thousand books. The building also contains many personal belongings of Mahatma Gandhi. The place is at the heart of India’s freedom struggle and is a must-visit place to know more about it first-hand.

  • Bhadra Fort: The fort was built in the 15th century by Sultan Ahmad Shah. The fort also houses a Bhadra Kali Temple, giving the fort its present name. The fort has majestic courtyards and gardens filled with green lawns.

  • Jama Masjid: The Jama Masjid is another famous architectural marvel by Sultan Ahmad Shah. The Masjid is located next to the Bhadra Fort and matches the architectural brilliance and grandeur of the Fort. The masjid is made of yellow sandstone and two hundred sixty pillars with intricate designs.

Ahmedabad is a major hub of the western railways and has many services in and out of the city. For intra-city travels, there is a metro system, connecting major parts of the city. This is a great way to get around the town while you are sightseeing.


Ahmedabad is a year-round tourist destination. But visiting the place in different seasons has its advantages.

The winter in Ahmedabad is mild and pleasant and is perfect for sightseeing. The time from October-March is considered ideal for visiting, as the heat is less intense. 

Summer and monsoon have their perks. But there are chances that your plans may get interfered with due to the scorching heat, or heavy rains.
